I’m feeling slightly more rebellious today so I am going to name “That Author” here. We are not allowed to even say her name on Mumsnet so I am going to get it out of my system here…

ahhhhhhh, that’s better
The media both here in the UK and around the world has picked up the story, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Mumsnetters who have refused to take this lying down. There are a number of journalists, friends of journalists and all round communicative posters on Mumsnet who have used their contacts and ability to kick up a stink very well indeed. The results:
Here’s Ms Ford’s response and Mumsnet’s rebuttal:
A long running campain against her, my arse. Some people disagreed with her methods, calling them cruel (their personal opinion). One or two people said silly things that in hindsight maybe they shouldn’t have said, but they were never meant seriously and anyone with a minimal sense of humour would have taken them in context. The majority of users of the site never joined in the debate, preferring instead to disuss other things compeletely unrelated to Ms Ford and her methods (this may come as a shock to her, I know).
What I would really love to say to Ms Ford is, “Get over yourself, the Mumsnet community is so much bigger than a few posts against your methods. Stop overreacting. Learn how to realise that someone is not being serious.“ But I can’t. Because that would probably be defamatory. (I rather suspect that Kev is going to tell me off for this given how much trouble I’ve been in previously over things I have written in blogs, but I am Making A Stand.)
You go girl
I have noticed a couple of articles online are linking to your original ‘Gina Ford’ blog entry…how exciting
I just have to congratulate all of the Mumsnetter’s who aren’t taking this lying down. (I’m one as well, but, I’m just a tad bit b***chier, being American after all.) As an artist , I have to say, I enjoyed your Gina Ford poem. It was….very… empowering.
I have a great love of the surrealists and for some reason when I read it, I pictured it as this very cool short film incorporating dance, rapid graphics and a lilting little jig enhanced by a cool break beat. Oh – that’s an idea, any of us who are worried about Ms. Ford should all write our posts in poetry – then it would “artistic expression.”
Glad you liked my efforts Christina – it took hours and much re-writing before I was entirely happy with it
